Our
Humble Beginnings
It started
simply enough. The Internet was in its infancy and I was
struggling to understand how to sign on to AOL and send email.
There were so many questions that I needed
answered. Perhaps I could connect with another ministry person
on the Internet and get some understanding regarding some
issues we were having in our own ministry.
In my exploration of AOL's features and
services, I stumbled upon a Christian chat room where I met
another pastor's wife. We chatted and shared some
frustrations, then burst into laughter as we unloaded our
frustrations and common issues. Our conversations were
precious and soon Christina Weimer and I became fast friends.
One by one we met other pastors' wives and our group of
'pastors wives who meet online' began to grow. First the
two of us, then twenty, then two hundred. We needed a
name. Carol Skipper suggested "Sarah's Tent" and we all
agreed. It was fitting.
From the first week we began to meet, we
saw a need to stay in touch through email and the logical
solution was to create a newsletter of sorts and share our
news, jokes, recipes, prayer requests, announcements,
articles, poems and anything else we could think of that would
benefit us all in our relationship building and networking.
These archives contain our humble
beginnings. Eventually, I'll weed out all of the bad
email and web addresses, information that no longer applies
and leave the emails clean with just our articles, poems,
thoughts and recipes.
My heartfelt thanks to all the wonderful
women who have imparted into my life and others as we came
together in one accord. I love you all and miss our
times together!
