Update on Prayer Request
By JoyfulArt
Here is a brief update to the prayer request
which I sent out last week. We have met with our
lawyer and looked at all possibilites in answer
to the situation mentioned. The lawyer's
recomendation is for us to close the church and
claim bancruptcy. As happens many times in
ministry, we feel like the children of Israel
when they had their backs up against the Red Sea.
Now is the time when God gets to show off His
"stuff"! Many times we don't understand
why things work out the way they do. But Romans
8:28 says that ALL things work together for GOOD.
A quote that runs through our minds a great
deal is this: "The degree of battle
determines the degree of the call."
It will be interesting and exciting to see
what God does with all the amazing things we have
learned in cleaning up the messes left in a
church by individuals and leaders who have fallen
into compromise and sin. We have learned much and
find ourselves sharing with many others, answers
that give illumination to problems they are
facing allowing them to "head off trouble at
the pass". This ministry alone was one of
those glorious things that only God can birth out
of such pain. "As a seed should fall to the
ground and die. . . "
Thank you for your prayers and support. We are
at peace knowing that we have been faithful and
done all to stand - and have continued to stand.
Glory to God for the Refiners Fire!!!

prayer request, and would like to, please write

JESUS NORTHWEST & GENERATION
"X"
By CWEIMER4 (Christina)
One great yearly event that occurs in the
great Pacific Northwest is the occurance of Jesus
Northwest... This is a time where for four days
thousands upon thousands of Christians and
non-christians alike converge upon the city of
Vancouver, Washington to partake in a time of
fellowship, teaching, preaching, edification, and
just plain ole fun...
I had the opportunity to attend the evening
concert on the first night of Jesus Northwest.
The theme of the whole event was "What's
your Passion?" As I sat there looking around
I noticed that out of the hundreds upon hundreds
who surrounded me, most were teenagers...
Teenagers dressed in the manner that most have
termed here as the 70's returned... With their
"hippy" like attire and their peace and
love attitudes they came...
This generation has been labeled
"Generation X" .. I thought about that
as I sat there looking around at all those kids
and was reminded of the times when as a child we
would put X0X0X0X0X0X0 at the bottom of our
papers to represent hugs and kisses. This
"Generation X" is a generation of kids
who need hugs more than any other generation this
world has known.. This is the generation who so
desperately wants to know what love is. In a
generation filled with fatherless homes and a
departure for Truth, that is the Truth of God,
teenagers are desperately seeking that loving hug
that tells them that they are alright. That they
are accepted, and most importantly that they are
loved.
Philippians 3: 17-21 speaks of those who
thought they were walking correctly yet now are
weeping because they know they are enemies of
Christ.. We need so desperately to show this
generation that there is hope and love in Jesus
Christ. We need to hold our husbands up as they
are, for some, the only example of a Godly man
truely living for Christ. As women, we need to
look upon this "Generation X" as a
generation who needs a hug of comfort, of
acceptance, and of love... By being open to these
kids and accepting them for who they are (or what
they look like), we may in the end bring them to
a saving knowledge of Christ. How wonderful it
would be to have the next generation be known as
the generation whose parents found hope and love
in the Lord Jesus Christ.

harvest is plentiful, but the workers are
few." Matthew 9:37

Such Is The Life!!
By Family5TX
After 1 1/2 years, I am still puzzling over
the peculiarities of my church. Are they regional
or universal? Human nature or spiritual
misperceptions? I have composed a "Why is
it?" list. Maybe some of your readers can
add a few. Read these with an Andy Rooney whine:
As a pastor's wife, why is it that:
People assume I have the church calendar
memorized?
People call me for other members' phone
numbers rather than looking in the phone book?
My children are called upon to perform solos
when they really aren't all that musical?
Folks assume I volunteer for the nursery in
order to jockey for a power position??!!
I get phone calls blessing me out for
decisions made by the church council?
My husband and I get praise we don't deserve
and blame we don't deserve?
Anytime I run out in the yard in rollers and
housecoat to get the morning paper, the chairman
of the deacons drives by?
Folks around here still misquote Bible verses
to justify their racism?
The youth minister still looks up to us and
comes around even though my husband has to have
heart-to-heart chats with him all the time?
There are folks who love us even though they
see our faults and foibles clearly?

Let us therefore come boldly unto the
throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and
find grace to help in time of need.

What's New?
Besides beginning the Pastor's Wives Chat with
Christianity Online in August, there are other
changes you will want to be made aware of.
As of this week, we now have over 90+ ladies
who have become a part of Sarah's Tent. That
doesn't include their children, husbands, and
other ministers who have requested to receive
this newsletter. God is doing some amazing
things! There are areas of ministry within
Sarah's Tent that make this ministry unique and
comfortable. In order to continue to be a
blessing to all who enter our
"Cyber-tent", God has dealt with us
that many hands make light, (and I might add,
JOYFUL work).

Please contact the appropriate person for your
needs or contributions. Anyone of these lovely,
lively, loving ladies just might send you an
invitation for a Spontaneous Chat as well where
you can let your hair down and meet other PWs!
Sarah's Tent, and the Joy In The Kitchen
newsletter are free to all who ask. Perhaps in
the future we will have a web site as well, but
that will be in it's "due season". Have
you ever wondered how we are advertising this
ministry? God has seen to this through some very
amazing avenues. Not only do others hear about it
by "Word Of Mouth", and messages placed
on various Message Boards, Sarah's Tent is also
receiving an additional advertising through the
gracious 'covering' of Christianity Online.
Now a new avenue of advertising has presented
itself through a national magazine put out by
Jill Briscoe for Pastor's Wives, called
"Just Between Us". They have generously
offered their help in spreading the word about
what God is doing online through this ministry!
Glory to God - He is good! If you are interested
in receiving this magazine, you can write or call
them at: JBU Just Between Us 777 South Barker Rd.
