"It's Just A Nail!"
By JoyfulArt
A story is told about a family who was given a
vacant home for free. There was only one
condition. That was that the previous owner would
have the right to place one nail somewhere in the
house, and that he would have the right to hang
whatever he wished upon that nail. Because of the
potential of the home, the family agreed to the
strange terms. In time the house was lovingly
remodeled, everything they had ever desired was
built into their new home. Nothing was lacking
and they felt very fortunate to have been given
such an incredible bargin. After all, it was only
a nail.
One day a knock sounded on the door and upon
opening it, the new owner met face to face with
the previous owner. "I'm here to hang my
nail" he said. "Very well," the
new owner replied, ushering the visitor in.
"What could one nail hurt?" he thought
as the visitor chose a wall and hammered in his
nail.
The next week the visitor again knocked on the
door, and asked to hang his hat on his nail. The
new owner protested, but was silenced, because
after all, it WAS the previous owner's nail.
Another week passed, and the hat was replaced by
a coat, then an umbrella, then a bag. This
puzzled the new owner, but he had gotten used to
the comings and goings of the peculiar visitor
and hardly noticed him anymore when he came to
exchange his possessions hanging on the nail.
After all, it wasn't like he was living with them
- and the house was more than enough for their
family. Good thing it was only ONE nail!
"Knock - knock" came the familiar
sound. The visitor stood in the doorway with a
new bag bulging with the weight of it's contents.
The old bag was replaced by this new one. A few
days passed and the new owner began to notice a
foul smell permeating the air throughout the
house. Searching desperately and trying not to
gag, the owner finally located the source of the
nauseating smell. It was coming from the
visitor's bag! Opening the bag he discovered a
dead and decaying skunk.
Shaking with rage he confronted the visitor
about his belongings. "You've spoiled
everything!" he screamed. "This house
is not fit to live in!" "What right do
you have to come in here and destroy our
home?" he fumed. "I beg your
pardon," the visitor calmly replied.
"This was what you had agreed to, and you
invited me in. You gave me permission to hang my
nail, and gave me the right to hang whatever I
wish upon it."
As realization of what damage had been done to
his home, the man gathered his family and fled
his house. Closing the door on the family, the
visitor chuckled for now the whole house belonged
to him!

Exploring the internet can be an exciting and
wonderous adventure. Or it can be a bag holding a
dead and decaying skunk. What you do in the dark
under your hidden screen name is like allowing
satan to hang a nail in your house. You reason to
yourself that you were just curious at what
people were talking about when they referred to
"those rooms". Perhaps you had loftier
ambitions and thought you would
"witness" to those who habitated those
rooms. Then before you knew it, you had been
caught up in illicit relationships and soul ties
to ungodly and demonic spirits.
More than one person has contacted me from the
Christian rooms pleading for prayer because they
had fallen into sexual addictions or real life
affairs with people they met over the internet.
Families are destroyed and testimonies shattered.
The grief is unbearable and they are all alone.
Pride prevents them from confessing to those they
know, so they do a profile search and contact the
nearest pastor online. Alas, and whether we like
it or not, even some of the pastors have already
fallen into this deadly pit.
Beloved, this is a new day and age. We MUST
NOT be caught unawares! Not only has the
opportunity to preach the gospel and heal the
wounded expanded, so have the slimy and seductive
pits of hell spread new opportunities for
spiritual death. Paul said in 1 Cor 10:12,
"Therefore let him who thinks he stands take
heed lest he fall." If you think this could
not happen to you then beware! You are next in
line! For pride is the armor of evil!
Once you have checked your heart, teach your
sheep. We must be about the Father's business of
training His precious children how to resist the
enemy. They must learn how to renew their minds,
put down flesh and vain arguments, and they must
learn who their enemy really is.
If you have already become ensnared and feel
that there is no way out - don't believe it. That
too is a lie from the pit of hell intended to
keep you away from possessing that which was
purchased for you by the blood of Jesus Christ.
Repent, ask for forgiveness and ask God to show
you how you can set Godly boundaries. Find help
and counsel. There are those who can pray for
you. James 4:7 says, "Therefore submit to
God. Resist the devil and he will flee from
you." To resist in Webster's means to
withstand; fend off; stand firm against; to
oppose actively; fight or work against. To keep
from yielding to: as, to resist temptation.
Together we stand - alone we fall. Don't let
pride stand in the way! The price of "Just A
Nail" is too high!

MOVIE REVIEW
This was passed on to me by Carol
(Justaservn), thought you all might appreciate
this:
Subj: Christian Review of "Contact"
Date: 97-07-14 03:18:20 EDT From: Kevcornett
Folks,
This is the second warning I have received
(below) about the movie "Contact." I
highly respect Al Dobras . I might just have gone
to see this one (with my kids) if not for Al's
warning. Kev snip... From: VABIGAL@aol.com
Last night I went to a sneak preview of the
new movie "Contact", starring Jodie
Foster. This film opens nationwide July 11.
"Contact" is the most hostile
anti-Christian movie I have ever seen.
Christians are portrayed as terrorists,
bigots, and anti-intellectuals who are motivated
by greed, dishonesty, hypocrisy, and an
irrational understanding of the nature of things.
The sole sympathetic Christian character is an
ex-priest who left the church because he couldn't
go along with its rules on celibacy and finds
himself in bed with a partially nude Jodie
Foster. His character is so weak, he offers no
spiritual counter-weight at all to the polished
and sympathetic heroine.
The movie is so blatant and one-sided in its
atheistic theme that it is difficult to imagine
anyone taking the film seriously. However, it is
so cleverly constructed, one is almost led to
cheer when Jodie's voyage to the stars
'validates' her understanding of a godless
universe and silences her detractors.
The movie is especially dangerous because it
carries an inappropriate PG rating and many
parents will take their children thinking they
are going to see an innocuous sci-fi film.
Nothing could be further from the truth. Aside
from the assault on religion, the film also has
bad language, casual sex, and partial nudity. The
movie was written and produced by the late Carl
Sagan and serves as a fitting epitaph to a life
dedicated to denying the existence of God. Al
Dobras

Hi there gals,
This is Nettie (JeffNet) writing to ask you
all do help me out. I am in the process of
compiling a resource area (really a list) for
PWs. Now, I need all of your help......if you
have read any books, magazines or articles that
are or were helpful to you in your life as a
spouse of a pastor, could you send that info to
me? Include author, title, and a little about the
item. I will make a standing list of these
resources for the asking. I know that some of you
have been through some hard times, was there a
book or something that helped you get through it
a little better? Also, PattieRWR and I are
searching WEB sites for your viewing pleasure. If
you have been to any really neat ones, let us
know and we will cruise them too and keep a file
on them. Thanks to everyone in advance!!! - -
Love, Nettie
