TAKE IT ONE DAY AT A TIME
Submitted by CWEIMER4 (Christina)

There are two days in every week about which we should not worry--two days which should be kept free from fear and apprehension.

One of these days is yesterday, with its mistakes and cares, its faults and blunders, and its aches and pains.

Yesterday has passed forever beyond our control. All the money in the world cannot bring back yesterday. We cannot undo a single act we performed. We cannot erase a single word we said.. Yesterday is gone.

The other day we should not worry about is tomorrow.

Tomorrow is beyond our immediate control. Tomorrow's sun will rise, whether in splendor or behind a mask of clouds. But it will rise. Until it does, we have no stake in tomorrow.

This leaves only one day -- today.

Anyone can fight the battles of just one day. It is when you and I add the burdens of those two awful eternities -- yesterday and tomorrow-- that we break down.. Let us therefore live one day at a time....

WHY A PUBLIC CHAT?

More than once I have been asked, "Why are we going to have a public chat? Won't that ruin everything?" "We like our privacy!!" These are good and valid questions. So allow me to address them as best as I can.

Even though there are over 100 couples now involved in Sarah's Tent, it is but a small tip of the iceberg. Those who have been blessed by this ministry will have opportunity to welcome in new PWs who are bruised, discouraged, and lonely, as well as greet those who have already been tried by fire and can light up the rest of our lives by their testimonies.

The public chat will only be one hour, one time a week. Private chats will continue, both structured and spontaneous. The private chats will continue to offer Bible study, thought provoking moments, as well as hilarious - screaming laughter. Enough to get PLENTY of "snicker-spit*" on your screen!

As with all ministry there will be challenging times and unwanted visitors. That is where you come in - as prayer warriors and loving friends to cover those new PWs who come in to visit with us. Which is the whole purpose of having a public chat. To provide a safety net for PWs to fall into and a door for fellowship. (The private aspect of this ministry will not be advertised, by the way). ~ JoyfulArt ~

FAMILY BUSINESS

Part of being a family online is the ability to reach out and bring support and encouragement to people who otherwise would walk through fires and trials alone. An opportunity has presented itself for us to lighten the load of one of our own. Kerri & John Evans (KerriLE & PastorJTE) are the proud parents of two very brave little children. Their youngest, Sawyer, was born with a birth defect which has brought with it several serious and life threatening conditions. Sawyer is 5 years old and after many years of treatments, shots, and operations is now facing the greatest challenge of his young life. Sawyer and his parents are heading to another city for a heart transplant for Sawyer. Without going into statistics etc., we are asking you to prayerfully consider what you can do to help lighten the load of this family. Here are some ways this can be done:

1. Pray for Sawyer's healing and wisdom for his Doctors and all who will be attending him.

2. Pray for Sawyer's peace of mind and strength, as well as that for each member of the family, especially his parents. Come against fear and speak peace to their situation.

3. Pray for Sawyer's big sister who is bravely helping her parents and could easily be forgotten in all the issues and stress that their parents deal with daily. That she would not feel left out or forgotten, knowing how very much her parents and Jesus love her as well as her baby brother.

4. For housing, and food, as well as misc. needs that come up during their stay in a strange town and hospital.

5. For the finances! If you would like to contribute to the Sawyer Evans fund, you can send your gift to Rev. John and Kerri Evans care of Rev & Mrs. Jeff Shearier. Just make out your checks to Rev. John or Kerri Evans, or Rev. Jeff or Barb Shearier. This money will be used to help ease the load of their stay while Sawyer is in the hospital. Rev John & Kerri Evans or Rev & Mrs. Jeff Shearier (MamaBrrr & RevnJeff) 10310 S Ave H Chicago Il 60617

For more information, you can contact by e-mail the following people:

1) For information regarding the fund, MamaBrrr.

2) For information regarding Sawyer's progress, PianistMom.

3) To send letters of encouragement to Sawyer and his family, you can send them to his mom, KerriLE.

What if God had an answering machine?
- By Rev. Paul Kummer Grace Lutheran Church, Destin, Fl.
Submitted by Justaservn ( Carol )

I have learned to live with answering machines as a necessary part of modernization. But I have often wondered- what if God decided to install an automated answering machine?

Imagine praying and hearing this: "Thank you for calling 'My Father's House'. Please select one of the following four options: Press 1 for a request. Press 2 for a thanksgiving. Press 3 to complain. For all other inquiries, press 4." You press 1 and hear: " We're sorry. Due to heavier than expected volume, please try your call again later. Your business is important to us."

What if God used the familiar excuse: " All of the angels are helping other customers right now. Please stay on the line. Your call will be answered in the order it was received."

Can you imagine these kinds of responses as you "call on God" in prayer?

If you'd like to speak with Gabriel, press 1 For Michael, press 2 For any other angel press 3. To receive the latest promotional gift with your order from Paradise Parlor, press 0 and an operator will assist you. To find out how many angels dance on the head of a pin, press 5. If you'd like King David to sing a psalm, press 6. To find out if your relative is here, enter his/her date of death and listen for the list that follows.

For reservation information or to confirm your reservation at "My father's House", press the letters J-O-H-N, followed by the numbers 3-1-6. To know what your pastor is doing at the moment, press 7. For answers to nagging questions about dinosaurs, the age of the earth, and where Noah's Ark is, wait till you get here.

"If you want to know what I think of American politics, don't press anything. Hang up and listen for laughter. Our computers show that you have called once today already. Please hang up immediately. "This office is closed for the weekend. Please call on Monday."

Thank God you can't call him too often. You only need to ring once and God hears you. Because of Jesus, you never get a busy signal. God takes each call personally. He knows each caller personally. Best of all, God often calls us. Are you waiting for his call or will your answering machine talk to him? If you listen carefully, you will hear music in the background and God singing, I just called to say I love you! I just called to say how much I care...."
