THIS WEEK:
It never ceases to amaze me how God can
speak to us through the e-mail we get! Ever
notice how there seems to be 'seasons' on a
particular subject? God will speak something to
your heart, and before you know it e-mail begins
to arrive on forgiveness, or appreciating your
friends, or taking things slower, or thinking of
others more than yourself, or. . . . . and the
list goes on.
This week the Lord began to speak to my heart
how easy it is to serve in the Kingdom of God. We
aren't required to be Biblical scholars - only to
know His Word, and to share WHAT we know. He
didn't tell us we had to do every kind of service
known to man in order to save the lost, He simply
told us to "Go!" and that He would give
us the words we needed in that hour.
In this week's JITK you will hear from those
who are now stepping out, those who are have been
already sent and need to hear from home for
encouragement, and other things that remind us of
how human we are. Did you realize that our
humanness doesn't shake up God? Then why should
it shake US up so? Perhaps we shouldn't take
ourselves so seriously and just, "Go!"

It's the little things in life that
determine the big things.
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Ten ways to hide the fact that you haven't got
a clue where that verse or the book, for that
matter, is:
by JoyfulArt
1. Place your Bible on your knee and slowly
stretch out your legs while you are
"looking" up the verse. . . .the Bible
will fall to the floor and you can sigh because
you "lost" your place. By the time you
pick it up it will be time to look up another
verse.
2. Start fiddling with your pages as though
they were stuck, softly click your tongue lightly
breathing something about kids and peanut butter
and honey. . . . .
3. Suddenly turn your head as though you just
heard a strange sound and are needing to attend
to it. (It might be a child locked in the
bathroom!)
4. Open your Bible to where ever, and pretend
that you are in the right place. Put your
notebook right over the pages, lean over the
pages screwing up your face as though you are in
deep study and write down your grocery list.
5. Look for a moment while your husband makes
a point, wave your finger in the air like a
lightbulb just went on and start frantically
flipping through the pages to look up what ever
it was that just went off in you. (It might have
been something you ate!)
6. Grab your child and insist that they fall
asleep in your lap so you can sigh and innocently
shake your head because you can move now.
7. Pretend your eye sight is going and hold
the Bible so close to your face that no one can
see you are in the book of "Maps" not
Hezekiah.
8. Open the book and lay your arm over the top
of the pages so the lady sitting next to you
won't know you aren't there, and pointing to the
pages, mouth the word "Wow!" over and
over, pointing at the eyelash that just fell on
your page.
9. When the lady next to you says, "What
did he say? I can't seem to find that book. . .
" You begin to tell her and suddenly jump as
though your kid pinched you. Then turn to glare
at the child sitting next to you ( one reason to
keep them handy in church services). Then turn
back to her and apologize, opening your mouth as
if you are going to give the answer. Skillfully
interrupt yourself as though your husband just
said something AWESOME and. . . . well. . .
.she'll forget what she asked you by then . . .
10. Pretend that you had a sudden loss of
hearing and strain forward, squinting your eyes
and furrowing your brow. (Just so you can get a
head start on things, try looking up 2 Tim 2:15
for good practice.)

Mark 16:15-18 And He said to them,
"Go into all the world and preach the gospel
to every creature. "He who believes and is
baptized will be saved; but he who does not
believe will be condemned. "And these signs
will follow those who believe: In My name they
will cast out demons; they will speak with new
tongues; "they will take up serpents; and if
they drink anything deadly, it will by no means
hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and
they will recover." (NKJ)

OUT OF THE MOUTH OF BABES
By Tcmah96
I have been in a battle with my three year old
son about who is in charge. One day he held up
his two little fingers in the sign for
"little" and said, "Mommy I am
just a little bit in charge. You are big in
charge, but I am a little in charge. You make the
big rules, but I make the small ones."
I thought that sounded a lot like what I say
to God. Don't we all want to keep this little
thing or that little thing within our control. We
say, "OK God I give you my life. You are in
charge, but I am keeping this little concern. You
make the big rules God, like the 10 commandments,
but I make the little ones, like how I spend my
'free' time." Why is it so hard to trust God
with every thing? I am learning so much from my
son.

"But Lord!, I'm Working So
Hard!"
Submitted by Justaservn
Some years ago a young man approached the
foreman of a logging crew and asked for a job.
"That depends," replied the foreman.
"Let's see you fell this tree." The
young man stepped forward and skillfully felled a
great tree. Impressed, the foreman exclaimed,
"Start Monday!"
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday rolled
by, and Thursday afternoon the foreman approached
the young man and said, "You can pick up
your paycheck on the way out today."
Startled, he replied, "I thought you paid
on Friday." "Normally we do,"
answered the foreman, "but we're letting you
go today because you've fallen behind. Our daily
felling charts show that you've dropped from
first place on Monday to last on Wednesday."
"But I'm a hard worker," the young
man objected. "I arrive first, leave last,
and even have worked through my coffee
breaks!"
The foreman, sensing the boy's integrity
thought for a minute and then asked, "Have
you been sharpening your ax?"
The young man replied, "I've been working
too hard to take the time."
How about you? Have you been too busy, too
hard at work to sharpen your ax?
Prayer is the hone that gives you that sharp
edge. Without it, the more work you do, the
duller you'll get.
Comments: We start out with all the fire of
doing something for God, yet we get so busy in
the work that we forget to "sharpen our
Axe" and we get dull and it takes more
effort, more time to get anywhere and then if it
continues we get so hindered that we can't get
anything done. The busier we are the more we need
that time with God to get the edge needed to get
through. Start the day with the Lord and then the
Axe will be sharp and the work is easier.
Food For Thought: Between the
humble and contrite heart and the majesty of
heaven, there are no barriers; the only password
is prayer.
Hosea Ballou (1771-1852)

We know we are growing in our
spiritual relationship with Christ when:
By Chuck Swindoll (Submitted by
Mymindgone)
1. We become increasingly aware of our
sinfulness and inadequacies.
2. Our response to sin is quick and followed by
genuine repentance.
3. Spiritual battles are more fierce but we are
still rejoicing.
4. We begin to see trials and temptations as
opportunities for growth.
5. We begin service to Him as a high honor not a
burden.
6. We are able to view everything that happens to
us as coming from God.
7. We sense our faith is growing stronger.
8. We desire to spend more time in genuine praise
and worship.
9. Our desire to obey Him is more intense and sin
becomes less and less attractive to us.
10. We are eager to share with others what Christ
is doing in our lives.
11. We are experiencing an increasing awareness
of His presence.
12. We jealously guard our private time of prayer
and Bible reading.
13. We prefer to spend more time with Him above
all others.

LETTER TO THE EDITOR
Subj: Joy In The Kitchen # 37
To editor, I just want to thank you for adding me
to your list some months ago. I enjoyed the
weekly reading and encouragement I received from
the articles.
I am not sure who to address but I just want
to say thanks. As we have now returned to the
mission field it was a bright spot in the day to
sit and read. As a wife on the mission field and
also home schooling, there are the days of
discouragement but God has His hand in it all. We
sometimes find it hard to deal with because we
have to be up for the ones we minister to because
they are watching us. Thank you again, Debbie
Hoffman

LETTER FROM DERIENKE!
Just wanted to let everyone know that we
are in Kumasi, Ghana. We stopped for a few days
in Accra to get acclimated and to register with
the embassy and various other things.
It is hard for us to believe that we are
actually in Africa. Although the temperature is
helping with that! It doesn't feel like this in
Omaha in November!
We are in the process of getting our own email
address, we will pass it along when we get it.
Thanks again for all of your support, help, and
prayers. ~ Dacia

The Reason We Pray:
A True Story Reported by an OMF
Missionary at His Home Church Submitted by
Sistapraze
While serving at a small field hospital in
Africa, I traveled every two weeks by bicycle
through the jungle to a nearby city for supplies.
This requires camping overnight halfway. One of
these trips, I saw two men fighting in the city;
one was seriously hurt, so I treated him and
witnessed to him about the Lord Jesus Christ. I
then returned home without incident.
Upon arriving in the city several weeks later,
I was approached by the man I had treated
earlier. He told me he had known that I carried
money and medicine. He said, "Some friends
and I followed you into the jungle knowing you
would camp overnight. We waited for you to go to
sleep and planned to kill you and take your money
and drugs. Just as we were about to move into
your campsite, we saw that you were surrounded by
26 armed guards." I laughed at this and said
I was certainly all alone out in the jungle
campsite.
The young man pressed the point, "No sir,
I was not the only one to see the guards. My five
friends also saw them, and we all counted them.
It was because of those guards that we were
afraid and left you alone."
Later.........
As I recounted this account during a church
presentation in Michigan, one of the men in the
church jumped up and interrupted the missionary.
He asked, "Can you tell me the exact date
when this happened?" The missionary thought
for a while and recalled the date. The man in the
congregation related his side of the story:
"On that night in Africa it was morning
here. I was preparing to play golf. As I put my
bags in the car, I felt the Lord leading me to
pray for you. In fact, the urging was so great
that I called the men of this church together to
pray for you. Will all of those men who met with
the Lord please stand?"
The men who had met that day to pray together
stood - there were 26 of them.

POT LUCK!
This is the best dressing you've ever had.......
Trust me....Carol (Justaservn)
This was my mom's recipe....
Esther's Hen ( or Turkey) Dressing
1 small to medium hen, ( or two turkey wings)
1 medium to large onion
2 or 3 stalks of celery
5 to 6 boiled eggs
cake of cornbread (made from recipe on back of
White Lily Buttermilk cornmeal
mix)
2 chicken boullion cubes
half stick margarine, melted
salt and pepper, to taste
Boil hen or turkey wings on med-high...for as
long as you can.....with salt and pepper..about 6
hrs...slow boil longer if you are doing good on
time...This is the secret...your broth will be
richer, the longer you boil it...add more water
if necessary....Use a large pot, and fill it with
water till it barely covers the top of the hen (
or turkey). *Note: You can use a whole turkey if
small enough...either way...boil a LONG
time....till the meat falls off the bone. While
it is boiling, chop up onion and celery, and
store in refrigerator, and make your cornbread.
(If for large family, you may want to go 1 1/2
times on the cornbread recipe) Remove meat from
broth, and debone. Then, put meat back in with
celery, onion, and boullion cubes. Boil till
celery and onion are tender. Then, in a large
baking dish, crumble up cornbread, and chop eggs.
Then add soup. Now, here is the next secret. If
you don't want it to be dry, fill the broth
capacity till it looks "soupy." Mix
together real well. Then pour melted butter on
top, and if you like it salty, pour some salt and
pepper on top. If you find that you have more
soup than bread....you have two choices. You can
use the remaining broth and make dumplings.....or
you can make a few slices of toast, to compensate
for lack of bread. Ok...now, two more choices,
you can bake at 350 degrees in middle of oven, on
lower rack.......or, you can tightly wrap foil on
it, put it in the fridge, and do that tomorrow.
Either way you win.

CHUCKLES TO US BE BLESSED---YUCK
Submitted by job33-4@Juno.com
A clergy colleague of mine stopped for lunch
in a country cafe. After the food had been served
, he bowed his head in prayer. The waitress ,
apparently watching her customer , bustled over
with a look of concern on her face. "What's
the matter , mister ?"she asked. Is there a
worm in your salad ?"
