Thorns In The Flesh
By JoyfulArt

Have you ever picked weeds, only to find one of those annoying 'invisible' thorns pierce your skin and cause irritation and pain until you finally locate it and pluck it out? Let me share with you an invisible thorn I've carried for years, that God just exposed in my life. I've been aware of the pain, and the irritation it caused, but really hadn't paid attention to the location of this particular thorn. It wasn't until a question wasn't answered to my satisfaction that I realized where this pain was coming from. It wasn't the question or issue I was dealing with at the time, it was a root problem from my past.

Now the reason I'm even sharing this with you is because I have a hunch many of you deal with this same thorn. It is called Dismissal. For whatever reason, there have been moments in my life where my opinions or thoughts were dismissed or ignored, and rejection set in. Just the realization that I had made bitter judgements based on those dismissals has freed me tremendously once I repented from them. Now it makes sense when certain issues would push my button and make it hard to let certain things go.

Do you have a pain in your side that is pushing buttons? Ask the Lord to show you where that nasty thorn is, after all, He said that His grace was sufficient for us, and He will give us the strength to face them and push through the resulting weakness. He does not desire us to continue to suffer, but to know that HE is the answer, and there is grace to make it through. It is through our weaknesses that He is made strong.

It's also important for each of you to know that what God has given you to share with the Body of Christ is important. The only "expert" is God, and the best teacher is the Holy Spirit through experience. If you have something that you would like to share through this newsletter, we invite you to share with us what God has given you. As you do, you will not only allow God to validate you, but set others free at the same time. God did not give you a light to hide under a bushel. We may not be able to print everything that comes our way, but that doesn't mean it's not valuable nor appreciated!

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

Last week we published a prophetic dream that was sent to us urging the Body of Christ to take action against the evil days that are fast approaching, and to rely totally on the Spirit of God. Several letters were received in response to this dream, and are published below. I'd like to thank all of you who took the time to answer and share your thoughts regarding this. Your input is valuable and appreciated as it helps us to clarify and balance all that is presented to us as the Body of Christ.
---

I just wanted to say these few things.

1. I agree totally that the dream was from God and the discernment was correct. There are many that are receiving the same kinds of dreams, words and visions of these times that are now upon us.

2. I agree also about the prophetic schooling that it is man and not all of God, but I also believe that there should be instruction on the prophetic from God's anointed prophets that He has appointed.

3. I disagree with what she said about the Spirit of God's manifestations at meetings. At first I was also leery about all of that, but God has shown me that we are to look at the hearts of these people and not be their judges. There has been much fruit from the manifestations of God's people. Many have turned their lives over to Him as their own Lord and Savior. Others have gone on to encourage and spread the message of Jesus all over the countries, so as was said about the battle against our brothers and sisters in Christ, we must not judge them only the sin.

In His Love,

Shannon,

I am a partner of Kenneth Copeland Ministries as well as Charles Capps, Kenneth Hagain, Joyce Meyer an Jessy DuPlantis and Jerry Savell, as well as a few others. Now I have been a Christian since the age of five, so that is forty two years. I know that I have had sound teaching, ( so will say no) and there was a few things that did bother me about your news letter,I do not howl,I have laughed in the Spirit, in my own home in the company of only Jesus and myself, and I have asked and have gotten what I asked for in faith. I believe that there are things that happen, and they are from God,then there are things that happen only because someone saw something and decided to run with it We have so much confusion because of too many man made laws.If God told me to do something I would do it even if others made fun of me, and then I would be known as the crazy person, but... I would be serving God. There are some truths with what she said but it also will make someone, as myself take a stand.I can not go along with everything she says, I think she heard from God but she went past the cut off. I say this in love, not to put her down for it is clear that she has a deep love for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. God knows the heart and we can only see with our eyes,we need to see more with the eyes of our heart, and not judge every thing in a lump sum,but look at each and every person before putting them down.

Shannon,

I will testify that this dream is truth and reality. I have had the same dream with almost the same interpretation. But I had one addition to the one I had. I saw a stairway leading from the heavens unto the earth. And I saw angels going back and forth, bringing the word of the Lord and doing His bidding, and then going back for fresh word from the throne. To God be the Glory, great and wondrous things He is doing! Blessings and Love,

To SarahsTent and TIGGER (The author of the dream article)

This past Friday, I preached one night of revival. The Holy Spirit uprooted and made plain the various controlling spirits that had laid claim to many of the hearts there. His message was, "Put your money where your soul is." (Haggai 1:1-10, 1John v2) As I read this week's JITK I could only nod in agreement. I too have seen this dream and recognize the voice of the prophet.

Peggy, continue to give voice to that which the Lord has commanded. Yours is a heart that sees much and has seen much in the Spirit. Think it not strange the new ways in which the Lord will use you to warn His people. You have done this before but God is about to use you on a much larger scale for such a time as this. Be blessed, dear sister, and know that the Lord your God has already made place for your voice to speak forth that which He has told you in secret. Many will be saved as they will heed the warning of the Lord. Regret not they which choose not to hear, they have their reward. Rather, look upon they that do hear and do repent as they are your work in the Lord. God bless you both.

In Christ's Service,

I have learned not to box God in with my earthly vision - we miss soooo much when we do that! But rather, when I feel uncomfortable or just feel like God certainly wouldn't do things that way I seek discernment & wisdom & confirmation that it is from him. Having traveled to another country I know even more how limited my vision is of God. We've been half way around the world (& hope to go again this Spring) to Nepal and the Christians there don't sing the way I do and their prayers don't "sound" the same as mine but, honey, their fruit is sweet and abundant and it is good!

ON ANOTHER NOTE
Dear Sarah's Tent/Joyful Art -

I'm not a pastor's wife, and probably will never be one. However, your weekly online newsletter is a great ministry to me, and helps me in the everyday situations I face. The sections on how to treat one's husband are enlightening, as I will be getting married in February. The articles on how these PW's deal with their own feelings and with the issues of others are so helpful. I'm very involved in my church, and on the leadership team for the after college singles group as well. This involves a lot of teaching on both large and small scales, and a lot of availability to listen to those who are hurting. Sometimes I'm not sure how I can minister to others when I myself am still learning and have so little wisdom to share. Your newsletter helps me to get over my own barricades that I erect, and teaches me to rely on God and his power and wisdom to see me through these times.

Thanks so much, God bless -
Rochelle

POT-O-PLENTY!

Hard Rock Cafe Baked Potato Soup
Contributor: MHFOOT
Sent in by PrasHm
"This is the best potato soup I've ever had."
Source: Dallas Morning News: 10/30/91

6 bacon slices (or 8) fried, crumbled
1 cup yellow onions, diced
2/3 cup flour
6 cup chicken stock, hot
4 cup potatoes, baked, diced, peeled
2 cups heavy cream
1/4 cup parsley, chopped
1-1/2 teaspoons granulated garlic
1-1/2 teaspoons salt
1-1/2 teaspoons red pepper sauce
1-1/2 teaspoons coarse black pepper
1 cup cheddar cheese; grated
1/4 cup green onions, diced; white only

Chop bacon; reserve. Cook onions in remaining drippings over medium high heat until transparent, about 3 minutes. Add flour, stirring to prevent lumps; cook for 3-5 minutes, until mixture just begins to turn golden. Add chicken stock gradually, whisking to prevent lumps until liquid thickens. Reduce heat to simmer and add potatoes, cream, chopped bacon, parsley, garlic, basil, salt, pepper sauce and black pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes; do not allow to boil. Add grated cheese and green onions, heat until cheese melts smoothly. Garnish each serving as desired with chopped bacon, grated cheese and chopped parsley. Makes 2 quarts.

CHUCKLES
Sent in BHale7904

A nurse on the pediatric ward, before listening to the little ones' chests, would plug the stethoscope into their ears and let them listen to their own hearts. Their eyes would always light up with awe. But she never got a response to equal four year old David's. Gently she tucked the stethoscope in his ears and placed the disk over his heart. "Listen," she said, "what do you suppose that is?"

He drew his eyebrows together in a puzzled line and looked up as if lost in the mystery of the strange tap-tap-tapping deep in his chest. Then his face broke out in a wondrous grin. "Is that Jesus knocking?" he asked.
