Does Jesus Care?
By F. Graff and L. Hall

Does Jesus care when my heart is pained too deeply for mirth and song; As the burdens press, and the cares distress, and the way grows weary and long?

Does Jesus Care when my way is dark, with a nameless dread and fear? As the daylight fades into deep night shades, Does He care enough to be near?

Does Jesus care when I've tried and failed to resist some temptation strong; When for my deep grief I find no relief, Through my tears all the night long?

Does Jesus care when I 've said good by to the dearest on earth to me, And my sad heartaches till it nearly breaks Is it ought to Him? Does He see?

Oh yes He cares, I know He cares, His heart is touched with my grief: When the days are weary, the long nights dreary, I know my Savior cares.

In this life as a pastor's wife (ministry wife) there are many times when our hearts are hurting so much that we ask ourselves... "How much more can I take? Will this time of my life, this pain, always be there? When Lord will you bring be some relief from the struggles I am facing?"

We have all been there at one time or another and if we haven't, there will come a time in the future when we will... The ministry can have so many blessings, however, because we are in the people business, it also has its trials, tribulations, and heartaches.

This past Sunday we sang the song listed above, like we had many times before. However, this time the Lord really spoke to my heart. As I sang the words and felt the pain of the song, I realized in a deeper way that HE KNOWS and HE CARES. This time and this heartache are not mine alone. Jesus is there. He will carry me through it, as He has before. And, when the trial is through and the time has passed I can look back and say, "I know He cares for me."

I cry to you, Oh Lord: I say "You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living." Listen to my cry, for I am in desperate need; rescue me from those who pursue me, for they are too strong for me. Set me free from my prison, that I may praise your name. Then the righteous will gather about me because of your goodness to me.
Ps 142:5-7

I will Make a Stand
By: Christine K. Horne

I will make a stand for Jesus, if I can,
a symbol of my faith, is who I am.
And I must follow on the road that lies ahead,
I must follow Him for the blood that he shed.
All to Him I owe, my life is not my own,
hand in hand we'll walk, the heavens will we roam.
And those I leave behind, the one's that I hold dear,
the one's that follow Jesus, will always remain near.

There is a fire burning inside of me,
to make that journey through eternity.
I'll touch my savior's face, and gaze into His eyes,
and never will we have to whisper those grieving sad good-byes.
And I am not afraid of the mystery of tomorrow,
for His strength He gives to me, and His love I have to borrow.

But until then, I will make a stand for Jesus if I can,
a symbol of my faith is who I am.
and I must follow on the road that lies ahead,
I must follow Him for the blood he shed....

>From our own:

I thank all the women who prayed with my husband and me this past spring and summer. We were going through a division in leadership (associate pastors who lost faith and wanted to drag us out with them), and there were a few months in there I didn't believe I could live through it. But (isn't God good?) "joy comes in the morning" and we see the dawn. God has confirmed over and over that our time with this body of Christians is not over, and we are encouraged that He will continue a good work here. God is bringing health and fellowship to our church at a new level, and there is increased desire for God to do something - so many in our body praying in deeper ways and showing new fruit! Thank you all so much - especially those who took time to email me. I really needed it! LAteaches

What's New?

This is just a little note to share and inspiration that we've had. So many of the PW's in Sarah's tent are PWs of huge churches and often they don't' share the same concerns as the PW of a small church so we have thought it would be good to start an email group of PWs whose congregations are under 30 in number. In a small church of this size often the PW takes on a huge role in the things she does and we want to share with other PWs of churches this size what you go through. What do you all think about this?

THOUGHTS TO LIVE BY
submitted by: Pstrwf

"There comes a time when you must stand alone.
You must feel confident enough within yourself...
to follow your own dreams.

You must be willing...
to make sacrifices

You must be capable of...
changing and rearranging your priorities,
so that your final goal can be achieved.

Sometimes, familiarity and comfort...
need to be challenged.

There are times when you must...
take a few extra chances,
and create your own realities.

Be strong enough to at least try...
to make your life better.

Be confident enough that...
you won't settle for a compromise,
just to get by.

Appreciate yourself by allowing yourself...
the opportunities to grow, develop,
and find your true sense of purpose in this life.

Don't stand in someone else's shadow...
when it's your sunlight, that should lead the way."

CHUCKLES
From: jkborg@attcanada.net (Kareen Fredborg)

Late last night my 15 year old and I were going through the Christmas sheet music. My husband who was not completely awake, said; "What's that carol about 3 ducks?" My daughter said; "3 ducks? Do you mean 3 sails? Like, I saw three Ships?" He said; " No it's about ducks waddling or something." Then I remembered a Christmas cartoon that we had seen. It was about 3 ducks who were caroling door to door."Oh, I know what you mean!" I replied,"It's Here we come awasailing." At this my daughter started to laugh, she had seen the cartoon too. My husband said, "Oh I thought they were singing Here we come a waddling. I thought it had something to do with eating too much turkey, so you had to waddle.... " Then we all cracked up. Maybe you had to be there, but we had fun.
