Glorious Rewards
by Shannon Parish
Each morning as I drive to work, I am left
breathless with the beauty that surrounds us.
Watching the leaves on the trees turn various
shades of red, orange and gold was nothing short
of miraculous! Every year I tell myself,
"This is the most beautiful Fall I ever
remember".
Our gorgeous Colorado skies change in a
moments blink of an eye, expressing God's
extravagant creative abilities. Perpetual
motion....that's His creation. He speaks a word
and it continues on forever, filled with life,
breathing new life into dead things over and over
again.
How easily we miss such reminders of our
Loving Heavenly Father's blessings! Concentrating
on the traffic in front of us, behind us and
beside us, we find ourselves competing for the
split second gain we might obtain in our journey
to the office, store, or home. Grumbling at the
mistakes others make in their driving practices
we enter our day with our brows crumpled and our
lips pressed firmly together. Fellow co-workers,
for those who work outside the home, are over
heard complaining about the company, their pay,
their bills, their kids, their....the list goes
on and on. At home we make an exasperated cry at
the laundry pile that continues to grow, or the
bills that arrive in the mail, or the empty
refrigerator....or....and the list goes on.
How easily it is to become so entangled with
the things of this world! How quickly we forget
to thank our Father that we even have a job, that
we have many kinds of clothes, a car, and a
family to come home to! The next time you catch
yourself with the words, "I hate..." or
"I can't stand...." stop and instead
turn it around and say, "thank you
Lord!" You will be amazed how quickly that
heaviness that presses upon you will lift and how
differently the world will appear. You will also
be amazed at how much sharper your thinking and
problem solving abilities will become - after
all, you've just aligned yourself with the
Creator of the Universe by giving thanks and
praise!

What are You Full of Today?
by: Christina
The Holidays are quickly coming upon us... and
with that comes the hustle and bustle that each
day brings. As Thanksgiving is celebrated this
week there is one thing that people tend to do,
and that is stuff themselves. It seems that is
what many remember on that day, how much food we
consumed. Sad isn't it. On a Holiday focused on
thanksgiving we have turned it to focus to food.
My husband, being the good pastor that he is
talked about this on Sunday. If you would indulge
me for a bit, I would like to share what I got
out of that message. The very first verse I ever
memorized in the bible... no it was not John
3:16.. was Ephesians 5:18. "Do not be drunk
with wine, which leads to debauchery, but be
filled with the spirit." At that time in my
life I was feeling very low and very empty. I had
a huge emptiness in my life and I did not know
why. I came across this verse one day and
thought, Yes this is it. I want to be filled with
the Spirit, I want God to be so much a part of my
life that others couldn't help but notice it.
We need to be filled with the Spirit and
filled with thanksgiving. Many things have
happened in my life since that time so many years
ago. Many were good things, unfortunately, there
were many bad things that happened as well. But
in all things I should be thankful. I should be
full of thanksgiving. I know, easier said than
done. When the world is crumbling all around you,
and the people whom you thought were your friends
suddenly turn on you; When you lost your job;
When the bills can't be paid this month; When you
wonder if the church will ever pay you enough to
be "comfortable;" When you have worn
the same clothes for years; When one extra bill
causes you to go from eating steak to eating
beans, pressure and circumstances beyond our
control... However, we are to be filled with
thanksgiving..
It is a known fact that people are more prone
to complain than to give thanks, however, God is
a great and mighty God and He wants our praise.
He wants to hear our thankfulness. I know that
through all the painful things of my past, God
has been glorified. All things work together for
good to them that love God. The Lord did not
desire that I should go through so much pain in
my life. However, He allowed it to happen knowing
that it would change me into a better person.
What am I full of today...? I am full of
thanksgiving, knowing that God cared so much
about me. That despite my lack of thanking him
enough, my lack of giving Him the praise and
honor He deserves, my lack of seeking Him in all
things...He loves me, and He is not going to give
up on me. I pray that this Thanksgiving you will
be full of HIM.

Nobody
Pstrwf
If nobody smiled and nobody cared
and nobody helped us along.
If every moment looked after itself and
good things always went to the strong;
If nobody thought just a little about you
and nobody cared about me,
and we stood alone, in the battle of life,
What a dreary old world this would be.
Life is sweet, just because of
friends we have made
and the things which in common we share.
We want to live on, not because of ourselves,
but because of the people who care.
It is doing and giving for somebody else
on which all of life's splendor depends.
The joy of this world, when you've
summed it all up,
is found in the making of friends.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I thank my God upon every remembrance of
you, always in every prayer of mine making
request for you all with joy from the first day
until now. Philippians 1:3,4
What's New?
Sarah's Puptent is an email discussion group
designed to minister and connect those in start
up and small churches (30 or under in regular
attendance) who need or want encouragement,
advice, Godly prayer, etc to each other. Pastor's
wives of these churches often feel they are alone
in the kind of work they do and need the
knowledge that they aren't the only pw in their
situation. Topics for discussion are put out
weekly to the group for all to respond. Email Exousia113@aol.com
to join and get that week's topic.
Calling Staff Wives! Do
people in your church refer to your husband as
the "song director" or "youth
guy"? Do your friends and even your family
ask when your husband is going to get a
"real" job? Do other people ask you
when your husband is going to be promoted to
Senior Pastor? If you've been asked these or
similar questions, we've got a special ministry
for you. "Run with the Vision" is
designed to encourage and support nonpastoral
staff and their wives. If you are interested in
joining us or if you would like more information,
contact Kellie ( PrasHm@aol.com
SHORT THANKSGIVING JOKES
How do you keep a turkey in suspense?
I'll tell you at Christmas.
What did the mother turkey say to her
disobedient children?
If your father could see you now, he'd turn over
in his gravy!
Why do turkeys always go "gobble,
gobble"?
Because they never learned good table manners!
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gobbler said, "Doctor, help me! I can't stop
acting like a turkey!"
"I see," said the doctor. "How
long have you had this problem?"
"Let me think a second. Mom laid the egg in
1954..."
