There's JOY in the Kitchen ~
~When we realize that ~
People don't care about how much you know Until
they KNOW how much you care!!

THE LOOKING GLASS
By JoyfulArt 1 Cor 13:12-13
For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then
face to face. Now I know in part, but then I
shall know just as I also am known. And now abide
faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest
of these is love.
Have you ever seen yourself unexpectedly in a
store mirror, or in a restaurant window,
laughing, or talking, and been surprised at how
you looked? When we look into our mirrors at
home, we look at faces that are dull and staring.
Oh we might tilt our heads to get a good look at
something on our skin or gaze in a wondering sort
of way what we will look like once we have
freshened up. But one thing is for sure, we don't
usually carry on exuberant conversations with
ourselves in the same way we would with another
human sitting across from us.
How presumptuous and narrow minded we can be,
thinking that we are familiar with ourselves and
how we appear to others! Surely, our true
perspective on our lives and testimony to others
is colored by our self centeredness!
Have you ever heard a 'secret' recording of
your own voice and heard irritation, bragging, or
perhaps complaining, gossip or murmuring? (Your
child usually will bless you with such a tape.)
Wasn't it shocking to hear YOU from another's
perspective? Again, how narrow minded we are
looking from the inside out!
What exactly is it that others see when they
look at you, or hear what is coming out of your
mouth? How desperately we need the presence of
the Holy Spirit in our lives, guiding, leading,
and teaching us. Only through God's Holy Word,
can we gain a true image of who we are in the
flesh, and who we are when Jesus reigns in our
lives.
Are you overcoming by the Word of your
testimony and the Blood of the Lamb? If not, take
heart. Jesus is the Author and Finisher of your
faith. He is at work, if He wasn't, you wouldn't
be pondering these words right now......Having
flash backs.

Every person should have a special
cemetery lot in which to bury the faults of
friends and loved ones.
~ ~ ~ ~
NOW I CAN SEE
Can you imagine living with a disease that you
KNOW is taking you gradually into a black and
silent world? Imagine a world where you have only
your senses of touch, taste, and smell! Try and
picture a world where you can no longer hear the
voices of your loved ones--or see their dear
faces! Think about never again enjoying the sound
of the choir, listening to another sermon, or
seeing another rainbow! Is GOD'S GRACE sufficient
for THAT?
I never heard of retinitis pigmentosa until I
met Carol. She is a fabulous Christian, and a
mentor to my daughter, who lives more than 1000
miles from us. Carol is in her fifties and has
already lost most of her hearing. Her field of
vision is limited. She can see the edges around a
black hole in the center of her viewing field.
Until recently--after experimentation--I sent
e-mails to her using enlarged white letters on a
field of blue. She was thrilled that she no
longer had to read "with [her] nose on the
computer screen."
A few months ago Carol completed some training
at the Helen Keller Institute so that she could
be equipped to deal with her impending blindness.
Among other skills, she has learned braille and
has learned how to negotiate using a white cane.
How brave she is!
Recently, my friend received a major
blessing--a temporary reprieve! Cataract surgery
improved her eyesight in her limited field of
vision from 200/20 to 70/20! What a gift this
was, and how it has blessed her life!
Because Carol is confined to her home much of
the time, she has little contact with people.
When friends come by they must sit in just the
right light and at just the right distance from
Carol, so that she can lip-read, but she misses a
significant portion of any conversation and it
becomes frustrating to her.
Another recent blessing for Carol was the
aquisition of a computer and an e-mail account!
She spends time every day online praying with
people, sharing the Gospel, and visiting. It has
brought a new dimension into her life and she
appreciates it more than most of us can imagine.
Though she lives hundreds of miles from me, I
am able to communicate with her frequently. Just
the other day I asked her, "Carol, you must
wonder 'why me'?"
Her response really surprised me. She never
wonders WHY. She firmly believes that God--in His
wisdom--has allowed retinitis pigmentosa into her
life as a gift, a benefit to her. For one thing,
she feels that she doesn't need to hear and see
the evil that is all around in our modern world.
"Having almost no hearing has put me in
the place," Carol wrote, "where I must
listen more intently to my Heavenly Father."
I thought about that and I evaluated my own
"listening". Just how sensitive am I to
that still, small voice? Do I have the kind of
trust that would enable me to not only
accept--but to appreciate-- the handicaps that
Carol has?
Knowing Jesus' promise that if we are to agree
on anything here and if we ask that He will give
it, Carol and I are praying that enough of her
eyesight will be preserved so that she can
continue her ministry on-line. She has the gift
of encouragement and has had the opportunity to
reach out to many others in a very special way.
Would you join us in prayer that Carol may be
able to keep a workable measure of eyesight until
Jesus comes or until He calls her home to Heaven?
Thanks so much...

March for Jesus!
March for Jesus is a Global march taking place
this year May 30 Saturday. I am the local
organizer here in Vinita Oklahoma. It is a
wonderful Christian endeavor uniting the
churches, to get them to come out of their walls
into the streets to praise and worship Jesus.
Just thought I would bring it up. I have written
a lot of press releases about it. The national
headquarters is in Austin, Tom Pelton is the
director of the national and Graham Kendrick is
the global director and wrote the songs, "No
More Walls" cassette and cd offered by
Hosanna Music. I would love for everyone to
become involved and march this year. Hurray for
Jesus!!

WHERE ARE YOUR PRIORITIES?

"...You are worried and upset about many
things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has
chosen what is better, and it will not be taken
away from her." Luke 10:41-42
Funny how $10 looks so big when we take it to
church and so small when we take it to the store.
Funny how big an hour serving God looks and
how small 60 minutes are when spent playing golf,
fishing or playing bridge.
Funny how laborious it is to read a chapter in
the Bible and how easy it is to read 2-300 pages
of a best selling novel.
Funny how we believe what newspapers say, but
question what the Bible says.
Funny how we can't think of anything to say
when we pray and don't have any difficulty
thinking of things to talk about to a friend.
Funny how we need 2 or 3 weeks to fit a church
event into our schedule, but can adjust it for a
social event at the last minute.
Funny, isn't it?

Died And Went To Heaven
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I was at the beach with my children when my
four-year-old son ran up to me, grabbed my hand,
and led me to the shore, where a sea gull lay
dead in the sand.
"Mommy, what happened to him?" The
little boy asked.
"He died and went to heaven," I
replied.
My son thought a moment and then said,
"And God threw him back down?"
