WHAT'S NEW?
Change Means Growth, and Growth Means Change!

NEW LOOK FOR THE JITK
Buckle your seat belts! Every living, thriving thing on this earth has seasons of pruning, changing, growing and multiplying. Just take a look at your kids feet! Those cute little feet have a magic way of growing quickly, and before you know it, toes start popping out of their shoes! Your daughter's whimsical plastic high heels with the shiny elastic straps become practical, comfortable sneakers that will make her run faster and jump higher. Just what is needed to stay in the swing of things and not get left in the dust!

For us, it's time to change shoes! Thanks to the wonders of the world wide web, we have chosen to utilize the services of egroups.com* to facilitate Buddy Groups, Support Groups, chats etc. to create an even greater community online for pastors wives - and yes, their husbands and children as well! You will find more information on this further down in this newsletter.

The next pair of 'shoes' to go is the color and 'schmaltz' of this newsletter. (I know, I know, I can hear the wails of the America Online members already....but don't despair! You'll soon grow accustomed to the simpler, faster newsletter that our Internet members have already been enjoying. To achieve this sleek new look we will be mailing the Joy In The Kitchen through a new email address. This address will allow subscribers to subscribe and unsubscribe at will, without our volunteers doing it for you manually.

(To subscribe to the Joy In The Kitchen newsletter you simply send an empty letter with the words 'subscribe' in the Subject line to: joyinthekitchen-subscribe@egroups.com. If at a later time you desire to  unsubscribe, simply repeat this step, changing the word "subscribe" to "unsubscribe" and send it to: joyinthekitchen-unsubscribe@egroups.com.)

Don't worry about doing this at this time, as we will subscribe all of our existing members for you. (You will receive a welcoming letter when this has been completed from that address.)

NEW WEB ADDRESS & LOOK
WHOO! HOO! Sarah's Tent now owns our own domain name! www.sarahstent.com will be the new address of our web page where you will see pages evolve, and grow. Not all of the changes will be effective immediately, so you will want to visit the site regularly to stay up to date and watch the 'pedals unfold'. We will move to our new site in the next two weeks - so don't be disappointed if you don't find us there yet. (We still have to pack our bags, boxes and call the moving van! LOL)

NEW BUDDY GROUPS!

Based on the overwhelming responses we received from last week's issue of Joy In The Kitchen, we have begun several new Buddy Groups.

Those groups are listed below. Each group has it's own chat room, calendar for events and reminders, a place where you can share pictures, and much, much more!

Some items of note:
ALL GROUPS ARE FOR SARAH'S TENT MEMBERS ONLY and are not advertised to the general public.

A group marked PRIVATE is by your request or invitation only, (your subscribe email goes to a moderator who adds you to the list).

A group marked as PUBLIC is available to you simply by subscribing.

If you are interested in being a group leader, please contact Shannon at SarahsTent@aol.com.

--------------IMPORTANT !! ----------------

ALL BUDDY GROUPS through Sarah's Tent are for the purpose of FELLOWSHIP and are NOT for counseling. Sharing of resources is encouraged, counseling is not.

Due to the sensitive and unique nature of some of these groups, we ask for your cooperation in keeping these groups a source of encouragement and safety. (Also realize that an active group may generate a sizeable number of emails. Because of this reason, most groups will be kept to a smaller more manageable number of members. New groups will be added to accommodate interest and needs.)

IN ALPHABETICAL ORDER.....

1. . Builders = Are you in the middle of a building program and ready to pull your hair out? STOP! You just might be able to find the resources, support and encouragement you need to finish the project by meeting others in the same position. This group is just for you! 2. Healthy = Did you make a resolution to reclaim your health through eating wholesome foods, exercising, drinking plenty of water, etc.? If you have, this group is for you! Share recipes, success stories, encouragement and resources.
(st-healthy-subscribe@yahoogroups.com ) PUBLIC GROUP.

3. Home-schooling Pastors Wives = Believe it or not - there are some women who are not only wives, mothers and pastors wives, but Home-schoolers too! (Personally, I don't know how you all do it.) Nevertheless - this group is just for you - to meet other women like yourself to share tips, tricks, laughs and fellowship.
( st-homeschoolingpws-subscribe@yahoogroups.com) PRIVATE

*We encourage you to visit www.yahoogroups.com  to familiarize yourself with all that is available to you!

RECENT SURVEY RESULTS

If you were one of the many women who participated in a survey recently advertised through Sarah' Tent on the motivations behind long term weight loss, we would like you to respond to Sarah's Tent with your mailing information so that your personal results can by mailed to you if you wish to see what they were. We apologize for the inconvenience in asking for your address again.

The response to this survey was almost overwhelming, and will benefit countless other women who struggle with weight issues. If you have had a weight problem in the past and have successfully lost weight and KEPT it off, there will be a survey coming out in the future to gather information along these lines. If you are interested in participating in this survey, please respond to SarahsTent@aol.com and we will reserve a special place for this future research project. Thank you to all those who participated!

(Participation in this survey is only through Sarah's Tent and not BY Sarah's Tent, but is being done by the efforts of Christie Ward & Associates, Inc, CWard9273@aol.com .)

DOT'S DELIGHTS
DOT'S DELIGHTS (DOTMI@aol.com )
This is a very old recipe that our kids always LOVE! I really hit a happy note when I chose to serve this for dessert after a family dinner the last time our gang was together. I hope you'll like it too!

GRANDMA'S HOT FUDGE PUDDING
1 c. flour
1 t. baking powder
1/4 t. salt
2/3 c. sugar
2 T + 1/4 c. unsweetened cocoa powder
2 T butter, melted
1 t. vanilla
1/2 c. half and half or evaporated milk
1 c. chopped walnuts
1 c. packed light brown sugar
1 3/4 c. boiling water
Whipped Cream

Mix flour, b.p., salt, sugar and cocoa in a bowl. Mix melted butter, vanilla and half and half in another bowl and then blend it lightly into dry ingredients along with the nuts. Pour this mixture into a greased 1 1/2 quart baking dish. Combine brown sugar and 1/4 c. cocoa and sprinkle over the batter. Carefully pour boiling water over top of all. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes. Serve immediately with sweet whipped cream.

CHUCKLES
The Country Preacher

A country preacher decided to skip services one Sunday and head to the hills to do some bear hunting. As he rounded the corner on a perilous twist in the trail, he collided with a bear, sending the bear and his rifle tumbling down the mountainside.

Before he knew it, his rifle went one way and he went the other. He landed on a rock and broke both legs.

However, that was the good news. The bad news was the ferocious bear was charging at him from a distance, and he couldn't move.

"Oh, Lord," the preacher prayed, "I'm so sorry for skipping services today to come out here and hunt. Please forgive me and grant me just one wish: Please make a Christian out of that bear that's coming at me. Please, Lord!"

That very instant the bear skidded to a halt, fell to its knees, clasped it paws together and began to pray aloud right at the preacher's feet:

"Dear God, bless this food I am about to receive . . "
